Job Description

We have and exceptional opportunity for a Director of Supply Chain to join a leader in the automotive aftermarket. The company has been in business for almost 40 years and is rapidly expanding locations across the United States servicing independent and franchise repair shops, commercial fleet operations and automotive general repair businesses and resellers. They are well known in the aftermarket and have a very strong reputation within the industry!  They are on an exciting growth curve and are continuing to grow through additional acquisitions!

 Responsibilities

  1. Establish both short and long term goals in the areas of quality, cost and service for each discipline that can be tracked routinely and allows for required adjustments to action steps.
  2. Inventory Demand Forecasting is a critical skill.  Not min/max.
  3. As a key corporate leader ensure that critical communications and decision making between the Supply Chain and its partners is timely and effective.
  4. Establish strong seamless relations with the key corporate disciplines including Manufacturing, Sales Operations, Marketing and Finance and Accounting.
  5. Participate in new product development, packaging and product rationalization meetings decisions in order to provide input as related to plant production, logistics capabilities, supplier capabilities and inventory management.
  6. Provide routine reporting and recommendations for internal and external manufacturing management, suppliers and internal and external logistics
  7. Develop and execute annual budgets and plans.
  8. Create strong relationships with all suppliers of materials and service related to the Supply Chain.
  9. Develop supply chain strategy that supports and meets company strategy, company performance objectives and customer expectations.
  10. Provide for the continuous education of personnel in all departments that fall within the Supply Chain.
  11. Direct the purchasing function by evaluating supplier partnerships, and improving procurement practices.
  12. Develop structured bidding and negotiation policies.
  13. Focus strongly on inventory control and material and service availability.
  14. Develop daily reporting systems to track the manufacturing effectiveness and inventory control of raw material, packaging material and finished goods.
  15. Oversee and continually improve purchasing with respect to the quality, delivery and cost objectives
  16. Review daily open orders against reported inventory levels to ensure on-time shipping, and communicate directly with the logistics team to ensure optimum service levels.
  17. Act as primary contact for all production facilities, communicating inventory availability, new product development, product SKU rationalization and forecast updates.
  18. Develop the optimal Warehousing and Transportation strategy with a focus on premier service levels and cost management.
  19. Manage warehousing and distribution of our products among various fulfillment centers
  20. Establish the right balance between internal operation and third party suppliers.
  21. Identify, qualify, secure, develop and maintain a best in class domestic and global supply base through strong supplier relationships in all aspects of our business

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's Degree, MBA preferred

8+ years experience in Supply Chain Management, 4 years in a key leadership role

Experience in multiple level logistics and DC Inventory Management processes.

Previous P&L responsibility.

Previous experience with Inventory Demand Forecasting.

MRP and Inventory Management systems knowledge

Comprehensive background in leadership positions in the Supply Chain disciplines

Expertise in Supply Chain, specifically in a manufacturing / distribution environment.

Need to be a results driven leader who has demonstrated consistent cost-savings performance.

Must be a strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.

Must have the ability to interact with all levels of the company.

Advanced education in specific areas such Inventory Management, Lean / Six Sigma

Skilled in domestic and global sourcing and supply chain management. Experience should include both strategic and tactical application.

Experience with analytical techniques to define and solve complex problems

Skilled negotiator able to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Must understand root cause analysis and problem resolution skills

Detailed understanding of financial concepts (budget, forecasting and variance analysis) and associated tools

JD Edwards a plus.

Operational Planning is a plus.

Professional certifications a plus.
